Thursday Sept 20, 2012

Was seriously looking at Pool v YB match but am passing on this. Please keep in mind that 30% of all EL matches are fixed. Platini has stated this, “UEFA HAS SERIOUS DOUBTS ON AS MANY AS 30% OF THE MATCHES.”

I am dropping my normal unit wager in half. I never chase so this is not an indication of my lack of confidence in the selections. It’s just smart money management.

FC Twente vs. Hannover 96 (3:00pm ET)

It seems we have one team in this competition that doesn’t believe this is a waste of time. H96 manager Slomka stated he, “Will take the Europa League very serious and will go as far as possible”. Therefore, if you are so inclined to take a side, Hannover 96 +0.5 would be my suggestion.

Twente will have their hands full tonight. There should be many chances in this match from both teams, so I expect a lot of goals too. Both clubs are offensive minded and like Barcelona are shaky on defense and rely on the attack to make up for the deficiency. However, they won’t be playing as lazy as Barca did last night and we should see aggressive play throughout. I watched the Quakes vs. Portland match last night and if you saw it, that’s what I expect in this one too. Lots of action.

Look both teams have done well at scoring in their leagues so I forcast the trend to continue tonight. Feel free to take this at Over 3 without hesitation if that’s your line.

FC Twente vs. Hannover 96 OVER 2.5 (-140) 1.5 Units

Sporting Lisbon vs. Basel (3:00pm ET)

I know that when we look at Sporting in league play they seem to be having problems, but they are still a decent team. Plus, their record in Europe lately has been good which indicates the seriousness with which they approach these matches. In their last 13 matches they have 12 wins and 1 draw.

Basel lost many players over the summer and they have performed poorly, display a lack of momentum and have yet to find a rhythm (according to reports). They played poorly in league action to date, have little or no defense and their history against Sporting is not good either. They have played them 4 times and have yet to score on them with a goal differential of -8.

Sporting Lisbon -0.5 (-155) 1.5 Units

If there are any Sporting Lisbon supporters out there you should be very very proud of your team for putting up with corrupt referreeing (RED CARD 50') and playing against a rugby team which was allowed to body check at will. Sporting never stopped pushing the play for one minute.

This referee is one of the 30% Platini was speaking of. Happy to be splitting today even though I lose the juice.

I knew Basel were terrible, Basel supporters know they are terrible, but watching this for myself.........and witnessing the corruption in the match is comical at best.

As always, I blame my cynicism on Declan Hill. Moving on!!!! LOL

Other suspect matches i didn't watch but recorded line movement over the past 24 hours and avoided are:

Bilbao v Ironi (Line move 1 full point in the last 12 hours from Bilboa -1.5 to -2.5 (-150) and they rested players)

game ended in a draw. LOL

12 draws out of 24 matches...someone could have cleaned up today. I think UEFA is opening itself up to match fixing by having EUROPA and so many teams....i didn't watch any but it's such a money grab - who cares who won the last 10 EUROPA/UEFA....besides AVB
